چکیده

V lesions are of principal importance in the progression of various primary and secondary kidney diseases (1). In the majority of individuals with kidney diseases, vascular component, is involved secondarily in the disease process affecting primarily the glomeruli. Indeed, in IgAN as a common and progressive glomerulopathy, impaired kidney function, hypertension, proteinuria and interstitial fibrosis are the greatest and most reliable predictors of poor outcome in IgAN (1,2). However, the significance of arterial lesions in IgAN patients has not been investigated well and characteristics of renal vessels in this disease not been studied separately. After the publication of Oxford classification of IgAN, and including the four morphologic lesions of mesangial proliferation, endocapillary proliferation, mesangial sclerosis and final interstitial fibrosis/tubular atrophy to this classification (3,4), the clinical significance of other morphologic lesions such as fibrinoid necrosis of capillary walls, thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) had not yet been clarified. Previously, El Karoui et al. in a study on a group of IgAN patients found 53% patients had morphologic lesions of TMA (5). They suggested that, morphologic lesions of TMA are prevalent in IgAN, however, this result was in contrast to the study of Nasri et al. They found the morphologic lesions of TMA in 1.4% of their patient (6). Hence, more investigations is necessary to found the clinical significance of TMA in IgAN. Author’s contribution AB is the single author of the manuscript.

Report of a Case of Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy in a Patient Without a Family History of Kidney Disease

Introduction: IgA Nephropathy is the most common form of glomerulonephritis and the major cause of end-stage renal disease. Gross or microscopic hematuria is a common symptom of hematuria and occurs in less than 5% to 10% of patients with IGM with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic biomarkers of this disease after biopsy. Methods: IgA...

Clinical, Histopathological and Immunofluorescent Findings of IgA Nephropathy

Background: IgA nephropathy, a prevalent disease in Asia, is considered the main cause of end stage renal disease among primary glomerular disease. Objective: To determine the frequency of different clinical, histopathological and immunofluorescent characteristics of IgA nephropathy. Methods: Renal biopsies of 376 patients were received for immunofluorescent and for histopathological studies. B...

Two cases of pseudoxanthoma elasticum with renal involvement

Abstract   Pseudoxanthoma elasticum is a rare, hereditary, multisystemic disease affecting   the skin, eye, and cardiovascular system. Renal involvement is uncommon.   We describe two cases of pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) in two women with   distinctive skin lesions and nephrocalcinosis that renal ultrasonography showed a   characteristic pattern of dotted increased echogenicity in the cort...

شیوع نفروپاتی IgA در بیماران مبتلا به گلومرولونفریت اولیه

During a 14-month period (Dec. 1990-Jan. 1992) , renal biopsies were performed on 105 patients with suspected glomerular disease. All specimens were processed for light microscopy (L.M) and immunoflourescence. Work-up revealed 21 patients to suffer a systemic glomerular disease and glomerular disease was found to be primery in 85 cases. Predominant IgG deposition was noted in 71 cases with prim...

Rare association of cutaneous vasculitis, IgA nephropathy and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome with tuberculous lymphadenitis

We read with great interest the article by Bueno Filho et al. entitled ‘‘Rare association of cutaneous vasculitis, IgA nephropathy and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome with tuberculous lymphadenitis’’ that was published in the esteemed journal Clinics. The authors presented an interesting case of cutaneous vasculitis, IgA nephropathy and antiphospholipid antibody syndrome with tuberculous lym...

IgA nephropathy in children and adults: comparison of histologic features and clinical outcomes.

BACKGROUND While some studies have reported that IgA nephropathy has a relatively benign clinical course in children, others have shown that renal outcomes of paediatric patients with IgA nephropathy followed into adulthood are similar to those of patients diagnosed as adults. Some of this variability may be related to differences in histologic severity of cohorts of patients diagnosed as child...
